Southwestern Michigan College Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents its fall band concert on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the theatre of the Dale A. Lyons Building on the Dowagiac campus. SMC Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble and Brass Band will be performing.
Southwestern Michigan College Director of Choral Activities David Carew titled Friday’s fall choral concert “Fantasia” to represent the variety of forms and styles featured. The Oct. 28 concert at 7:30 p.m. in the theatre of the Dale A. Lyons Building on SMC’s Dowagiac campus consists of vocal jazz, folk and pop, in both contemporary and classical settings.
Louis Noakes counts five learning styles, including visual, auditory and kinesthetic. “Most people don’t get two,” said Noakes, Learning Center tutoring support services coordinator for Southwestern Michigan College’s Dowagiac and Niles campuses.
Southwestern Michigan College won Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce’s “Shining Star” Oct. 19 at its annual dinner and membership recognition at Elks Lodge 889.
