Eddy Currents advance to state

The Eddy Currents 2.0 FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robotics Team will be attending the Michigan FLL Championship in mid-December after a strong showing against 22 other teams. In the “Lancer-Bot-Mania” qualifying tournament Nov. 11 at Lakeshore High School in Stevensville they received the Tournament Champion’s Award, recognizing a team that fully embraces the league’s core values while achieving excellence and innovation in both the Robot Game and Project. The Eddy Currents also achieved the highest Robot Game score of the day, earning them the Robot Performance Award.

The Eddy Currents are an Edwardsburg-based neighborhood group.

Team members include Mya Eberlein, Aidan Dohm, Brock Leniski, Brady Wright and Michael Wright.

They are coached by Andrew Dohm, a Southwestern Michigan College math and physics professor, and Nichole Dohm, Edwardsburg Middle School science teacher.

SMC’s STEM Club sponsors the Eddy Currents.

The FLL program provides students a great opportunity to develop STEM skills such as engineering design, programming, research, teamwork, collaboration and communication.
