Southwestern Michigan College Concert Choir collaborates with Citadel Symphony Chorus and St. Joseph First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, to present Handel’s “Messiah.” Admission is free. The church is located at 2950 Lakeview Ave., St. Joseph.
Four Southwestern Michigan College students and its three residence hall managers graduated Nov. 29 in the fourth Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class. Capping 20 hours of training was the eerily quiet aftermath of a tornado scenario which blew out windows in the southwest corner and knocked out power to Fred L. Mathews Conference Center West on the Dowagiac campus.
As a well-practiced member of a band, I have experienced a multitude of soul-searching, goosebump-raising arrangements commemorated to cherished memories, lost loved ones and celebratory occasions. However, no song holds a more spiritual, communal calling than “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
